How to Use Jiu Jitsu - for men and women, by I. C. King, B. B.

"How to use Jiu Jitsu for men and women: Army tested methods of self-defense. Learn how to protect yourself against an assailant of superior strength, in any emergency"

Do a search on Abebooks!

Is this ever a cool cover, or is it a cool cover? If only for this cover illustration the book would be worth the price! And yes, you can get it from the Net, through Abebooks. Will set you back a few dollars (or Euros...), but is well worth it.

In this 48 page long booklet, you will find pictures and drawings of men and women doing ju jitsu defenses, dressed in what must have been rather fashionable clothes of that period. You have lots of suites, dresses, skirts, hats, high heels, coats, ties and stuff here! A lady or a gentleman do not wish to be seen sloppily dressed, you see! If anyone is lead to believe that style and fashion is something that has been invented today, they should have a look here!

A few shots are done with guys showing some muscle (guys don't need much persuation to take their tops off :). You also have a few pictures of people in sports clothes, and some that are done in what may resemble a martial arts outfit (gi) with belt.

According to the book I. C. King has many years of experience with jiu jitsu (I assume that B.B. is short for black belt). He is described as an instructor to the US Marines in "Jiu Jitsu combat training". The book states that the techniques are from a 160 pages long book, titled: "Combat Conditioning Manual, Jiu Jitsu Defense" by Major R. E. Hanley. You are in luck, because you can read about that one right here!

There are in fact lots of ok, and some good techniques in here. Not only that, but they are demonstrated with a good level of "action" (something that is more often the exception to the rule). Not everything is executed perfectly, that may well be. All in all this is a nice little book, that comes recommended.
